The Mighty Nogent! 'Tony Miles Catch report'

Hi Si & Jon

Im sending you some photos of the Nogent Mirror that i had out last week for your CCC Gallery (sorry Si).

Just for the record, i was out for the 1st time with my son Darren who picked 1 at the draw. Unable to get in the tree`s next to him i went in Nice Andy`s. By Monday morning Darren was on 4 carp including 2 at 42 & 47lb.
I was on 3 Bream, and looking to move.
Two laps of the lake after breakfast and with Darren`s permission i jumped in the Rock to fish the back of his marker and keep the area baited up between us (his turn next year)
With 2 baits on the marker and one just short to the right, i then decided to put the 4th rod just short of a weed bed 30yds out towards New Biffo`s.
At 1am i landed a 25lb Mirror on the baited area.
Just before light i had a take on the close in rig and was soon into a lump.
The fish gave a good fight and after about 10 mins was in the net?
Unaware what i had landed i replaced my rods back on the pod (as i had dipped the tips whilst playing the fish) then with my head torch i shinned the light into the net as i lifted it only to find it was `empty`
Dont ask me how but somehow she had swam out and was resting on the bottom, line taunt about a rod lenght out.
Not one to panick i quickly steered the fish back into the net.
Still not realizing what i had landed (twice) i thought i would weigh her before getting Darren round to do the pictures.
I managed to lift her out and onto the scales which were bouncing between 75 & 76lb it was only then that i realized i might have landed the Nugent.
I got her back in the landing net inside my weigh sling to keep her calm, placed my spare net over the top and secured it all down.
After making a cuppa, which was by then light i thought "right what do i do now".
I phoned Darren and told him "i think i`ve got the Nugent in the net"
He told me F*** Off or something like that.
I went and got Jake to do the official weighin which went 76lb dead.
The lads did the pictures and the Nogent was returned with a kiss, as strong as she came out.
Congratulations all round and a few beers in the evening then it was back to what we came for.
I finished up with 6 carp 76 - 58 - 45 - 39.8 - 25 - 22 (all but the big one came from the marker - thanks Dal)
Darren was top rod with 12 carp 2 x 40 + - 7 x 30 - 3 x 20
We used 100kg of particle and boilies and had a fantastic week with a great bunch of blokes.
Booked today for 1st week in May next year but would like to get back out before then so if you get any cancellations would you please contact me.
Special thanks to Jake for looking after us cant wait to return.

Tony Miles
